Casino Night Fundraiser

St. Bernadette had its annual Casino Night fundraiser recently, and we joined our friends for an evening of eating, gambling, and bidding on auctions.  Bobbins didn't want to leave Owen home, so he came along.  It was fine; there were plenty of old ladies that wanted to hold/rock him.  At one point, Bobbins did a four-way-split at blackjack and won1  At Bobbins' urging, I ended up bidding on tickets to the US-Mexico match Apr. 2 and winning.  Yee haw.

Back to Softball

We started back up with softball, almost with a whole new team.  We've got some good new girls and new jerseys.  Our team name is now No Glove No Love.  Our biggest addition as been Jacopone, our ringer.  He's playing short and making a lot of good plays.  And in the first three games, he's hit an over-the-fence home run each time.  In the first game, he hit two (photos below).  In the third game, he almost cleared the tall pine behind the fence and hit a car.  I'm still pitching.  I've given up a couple home runs but had a good number of strike-outs.  We're playing this time at Kiwanis Park.  If we keep it up, we'll be promoted to the 'big leagues' next season.

Owen's Baptism - Party

Bobbins baked up a delicious cake and we ordered a couple trays from Safeway that worked out great.

Owen's Baptism - Group Photos

That last photo is Bobbins with her good friend Mary, whose daugther is a few months older than Owen.  Mary always jokes that her three kids (2 boys and a girl that mirror our three kids) will marry MM, JoJo, and Owen.  That would be cool, although hopefully a couple of them will answer the call to religious life.

Thanks to my sister for bravely stepping in at the last moment to take all of these shots.  Bravo!

Owen's Baptism

Our son received his first sacrament last month.  It was quite an occasion, as we were godparents for our friends' son as well as parents to our own boy.  Jack and Monica were Owen's godparents.  They're now using the baptistry at church, which is good, but it can get crowded in there, as you'll see in the photos.  It was hard to experience the sacrament since the girls were ... the girls, but still managed to appreciate our son becoming a Christian.

Church Carnival

We picked up Jacopone and hit the STA Carnival a couple Saturdays ago.  They went all out this year, almost doubling it from last year, with way more inflatables, booths, games, and food.  There were a lot more people, too, many not affiliated with the parish.  We got there early enough to get good parking (Bobbins still not up for bike riding) and saw many of our friends. I ended up buying MM a $20 all access pass and four books of tickets, which was $40 and lasted fine.  We spent a solid 3.5hrs there, and the girls were exhausted.  We rallied to return to 5pm Mass.  MM took right to climbing the highest inflatable and must've went on it 50 times.  She also loved the spinning red cups.

JoJo needed some coaxing to go on this thing.  She climbed to the top fine, if slowly, but got scared at the top.  I had to climb up there to push her down, which she didn't like too much, crying the whole time.  I had to really push her, too, because of her vise-like grip on the side.  I felt kinda bad but we talked it out.
MM and Sienna went on the high slide together, then MM went back on the spinning cups with a new friend.

Last stop, and only cost 8 tickets.
