Re-Grout Shower

The master shower had some mold and chipping in the grout, so we decided to re-grout it. Of course, it turned into a longer project than anticipated, but after 2 weeks we were finally able to use it.  It's bigger than our old one, with a huge bench, but the slope to the drain is steep.  There's two shelves for our stuff.  Once we get a double head, it'll be better for us. First time I've done grouting and it turned out ok. Also repaired a few places in the rest of the house.

Visit to Oscar

Bobbins and her mom went to the Scottsdale Quarter to "visit" Oscar, her dad's former employee who's now at-large designer and man about town in several publications. Somehow he got on these posters there.

Booch's Birthday

We had a little party for Owen's first birthday the other day.  Bobbins managed only to bake and decorate a nice cake.  Lot less than MM got back in the day; poor 3rd kid (and poor 4th...).  At any rate, he got the most boy cake she could think of.

We had Peter Piper pizza and salad and broke in the new gray couch Bobbins bought. It was the first time for Booch eating cake, and of course he loved it. He even got a couple gifts. Happy birthday son!

Little Booger

Bobbins was out with the girls and I was home working on the house with Owen.  He crawled off while I was working on whatever it was.  I hadn't heard him for a bit so went to find him, in the bathroom.  He looked so proud for his mischief, and happy.

(That's a whole roll of toilet paper in the toilet.)

Best Gift

We received some very generous gifts for our new house, which enabled us to buy a new couch and new clothes washer and dryer set.  But by far the most memorable was this wonderful statue from Kevin & Jess.  Thanks!

Bobbins found a perfect spot for it next to the fireplace, between the Madonna print by Bobbins' cousin and the awesome new crucifix I received for Christmas.

Moving In to the New House

Thanks again to Dad, Uncle Jack, Kevin, Zeus, and Jacopone for helping.  Couldn't have done it without you.  And Kathryn for babysitting.  That first night went well, thankfully.

The U-Haul

Bobbins talked me into renting a U-haul truck.  I had planned to do it with family trucks and my dad's trailer, but she said it'd be easier to do one big load.  Despite the cost, I agreed, and it paid off.  It was easier to do one load, and it started to sprinkle when we arrived at the new house.  It was quite and adventure driving that monster, their biggest truck.  The hardest part was the gas station filling it up before returning it.  But we picked up Sat. morning at 7 and had it returned by 5.  Only cost $100.  Uncle Jack was awesome at packing, with Kevin the main muscle and my dad supervising.

For the drive to the new house, it was Bobbins and I and The Dog in the front, Clampett style.  It was a nice light moment amidst all the stress of moving.  Sure a lot different than the last time we moved together, when we had about 1/4 of the stuff...

Moving Out of the Old House

As referenced in the earlier post about putting the pool fence back up, we bought a new house.  I wanted to be closer to work and we needed a bigger house.  My commute is now cut in half and we added almost 700 sq. ft.  And a pool.  We miss the old house a lot but are getting into the new place, one project at a time.  Below are some pic's of our stuff packed in the old house.  Bobbins did a tremendous job of getting us all ready to go.  She got all our boxes for free from someone else who moved, and we got a bunch of green Ace totes from one of my dad's friend's store.

Pretty odd for us to see the old house empty.  And sad.  Every time I've gone back to do touch-up painting or yardwork, it's been a bummer, no more so than when I had to paint over the height markings of MM and JoJo in the kitchen.  It was our first house so it'll always hold a special place for us.  Now if we can just sell it...
