Wood Staining

Our new patio pergola/ramada would be wood, which meant it needed to be stained. Some came from my dad's lumber yard, including all the posts and 2x10s, but all the rough-sawn 2x6 came straight from Capital Lumber here in Phx. It all went into my garage, in dry storage, with all the rain we got in Feb. I spent three weekends staining every board by hand, with a roller. I'm never staining wood again...

This is me just starting out. After the first weekend I figured out a decent system. I think I listened to the itunes library on the ipad twice all the way through. Also listened to some great talks by Fr. Chad Ripperger. On the one hand, it was nice to be working in my garage; but on the other, I missed a lot of sleep and my back really hurt. All in all, it was worth it.

School Jog-a-thon

The girls' school does a jog-a-thon fundraiser every year. At the end of Feb. the girls canvassed the neighborhood and family for donations per lap. A number of brave souls pledged $1/lap for each girl. We estimated about 20 for MM and 15 for JoJo. They ended up at 30 and 29, respectively, which translated into about five miles for MM and 4.5 for JoJo. Great job girls! And many thanks to everyone who donated.

Valentine's Party 2017

We had our now second annual Valentine's Day party with a few other couples in February. Bobbins went overboard with the food again, but it was delicious. We played the same game as last year, with only a few answers changed. Bobbins and I actually did better this year than last, thankfully, and didn't finish in last place.
