I did the pumpkin carving with the boys, and all three took me up on my offer of $1 to eat the "goop." You can tell it's all my carving since they're basic jack-o-lanterns.
We baked and ate the seeds, as usual.
On the actual day, we had the Schaefers and Kudlas over for trick or treating in the neighborhood. As for our costumes, the boys are fairly obvious. Owen looked pretty good as a ninja and TF was true to form, which Bobbins was proud of. Edward is always in his own land. JoJo's was the best costume, of her favorite character. Margaret looked sharp as a ____.
In 4th grade they do a play instead of individual presentations. MM's class did the Children of Fatima. Margaret was one of the girls in town.
Owen was St. Michael the Archangel.
Josephine was St. Zita. She got too nervous and barely got half her speech out, but she looked pretty.
The three bigs and I made it downtown for the annual celebration. The girls sang with the schola and did a phenomenal job, as usual. (Although Dominic P. was the star of the show again.)
I forget what type, but Bobbins was able to grow some gourds in the plants by the pergola. She then harvested them to make luffas (sp.?) for cleaning bodies and dishes. She ended up with about ten viable ones. She always says she has a black thumb, but she's getting quite good out there.
Bobbins and her dad bought a countertop from Ikea and installed it on some new base cabinets next to the dining table. They also hung cabinets on the wall. Our china and other fancy kitchen items are stored in there. I got one drawer, the top left, for my Bible and a few other things, as well as my key bowl on the counter.
They got plenty of shopping in, but Bobbins also got them out on a pink jeep tour.
Made our annual pilgrimage to schtick and commerce and overpriced games at the State Fair this year with Kathryn joining us. Bobbins wanted to see the Figure 8 races, as usual, and the kids got to go on a few rides. I got a nice giant corndog.
Big 3 for the little guy. His godmother Mrs. Weisse made a great cake.
I played in the St. Mary's High School golf tournament fundraiser this year. I got my buddy from work, David, along with Will, my usual ringer, and of course Dennis. With David and Will carrying the water, we very nearly won the thing, coming in second. It was a great day out there. On one hole they had a guy with a pipe cannon that could shoot your ball from the tee to the green on a [short] par 4. For a price, of course. I was the only one of the four of us to make the green.
