The old man turned the ripe age of 60 a couple weeks back, so we threw him a little dinner party at Monti's in Tempe.  Aunt Mel and Aunt Susan came in for the occasion, so all of his siblings were there, as were his three children and two grandchildren and his best friend Steve.

After our bites to eat, we sampled the (expensive) rides.  Bobbins got some nice shots, as did a reporter from the Arizona Republic, who snapped a photo that appeared in a filmroll on azcentral.com that Sunday (it's #15 of 47).

Baby Munninger chair recover

Finally a project for someone else. Even though I stress about the client seeing the mistake, I try to remind myself, you are doing this for free and most likely they can't do it any way so yours is automatically better. (Although Aunt Jessica can do it YIKES!)

Since my sister in law is having her first baby it takes a lot of money to get started. Some people will buy you the big stuff but not likely. Although I think our parents got us a car seat which was a big ticket item. So when I say some people I mean your friends. Which is fine, because ultimately you just want support anyway...and a glider chair! I was suppose to be getting a white t-shirt for Margarets dress I got brown, seen here, and a cushion for our front bench, seen here. When I came across this glider I thought, "Hey why not store another baby item for them?" So far we have their crib, their stroller, and now their glider. Seeing as it was only $19.99 I called them up and suggested we get it. In Aunt Jessica's sweet voice she says ok but you can tell what she is really saying is I haven't even seen this in person and I am suppose to buy this huge thing? Its from Goodwill. Fortunately she trusts me and the purchase was made.

So you can see how gross the cover is. I thought well wash it. But then I thought. OMG I could recover it!

I used the old cover as my pattern. I was just about to cut when I realized that my stripes would not match up when on the chair. Whew! I rearranged them and then went to work.

And then my awesome little tufting touch.

Bunting all the way home

Bunting is all the rage. and it is in our house too. I have had this project on my project list for quite some time and I have finally found time to make this

beautiful table cloth. I wish I had the patience and the paint to make one for all events. Baby showers, birthdays, holidays. The original lady said the same thing.

Happy Birthday Arizona Pt. 1

After the hike in the Estrella Mtns, we headed to the State Capitol for the Arizona Best Fest in honor of the state's centennial.  It was like the state fair with food, rides, exhibits, performers, and speakers.  My mom and sister Katie joined us.  Bobbins got try out her new fancy Canon camera.  We had a blast.

               

         

         




We enjoyed the ASU booth, where my mom got a free bag and Bobbins & the girls got ASU "stickers."

      

At the Marine Corps booth, I busted out 15 pull-ups to win a lanyard for MM.

Afterward, I treated myself to a deep fried twinkie.  It wasn't that good, unfortunately.

       

Turn Out the Lights ?

Not a bad idea -- 8 Reasons to Turn out the Lights During Lent.  We're going try it Friday nights.  A blessed Lent to all!

 1. It forced us to limit our to-do lists.
2. It taught us humility.

T-shirt into a Dress

In all of my extra time- time to keep me busy and my mind preoccupied I have been crafting up a storm. I found this link on how to take an old t-shirt and make it into a dress.  I used an old skirt and a shirt from goodwill as I did not have a shirt that matched. So for $1.99 Margaret has this sweet dress made with love and hugs. 

Front bench make over

If you have been to our house recently or not even recently you would have noticed that our front bench was looking a little worn out. The white paint was chipping and the cushion had a huge popsicles stain from last summer that I was to lazy to wash out. Why wash when you can make over!
I cut off the arm rails and took off the top of the front legs with a hand saw and a jig saw. (Honey I'm sorry I broke the jig saw blade). But doesn't it look cute! If you look closely at the picture of the girls in the background you can see the bench and the hand rails that are no longer there.
I bought yellow toile fabric to cover cushions with but when I went to Goodwill to find cushions to cover, I found these awesome Cost Plus World Market ones for $4.99. I can recover them when I get tired of the stripes.

I was in a hurry for a new project that I forgot to take before pictures so these will have to spark your memory. Whoops!

Remember how gross it was? I didn't even want to set my groceries on it. But now ...

Next on my list is to paint the mail box black and get a new front porch light. (I love you Mr. Bikes)
