MM's B-day Prep

Bobbins wanted to do up a big circus-themed party for MM's third.  She and my mom stayed up till midnight the night before doing the decorations and making these cake pops (which were delicious).

         

          

Loose with the Lipstick

One day while we were building the playset the girls got loose with mama's liptstick.

         

         

         

           

Finished ... Almost

Still have to stain it and to add the covering at the top (waiting for my dad on those), but pretty much finished on the playset.  Getting all those weeds out next to it made a big difference.

      

With Featha, we finished up the climbing wall on the back.

                 

Bobbins loves her chalkboard signs, but this little table to the left of the slide turned out good.

           

Re-Landscape

One other part of the new playset was moving the rock landscaping.

        

Re-Mortar Wall

Last weekend we put the finishing touches on the playset and did a few other chores, including weeding.  Uncle Zach was instrumental in accomplishing all the tasks and deserves much of the credit.  One of the big things to do was to re-set with mortar the stone wall dividing the grass from the pea gravel by the playset.  Though inexperienced, we were able to knock it out.

       

        

            

        

       

        

Yes, Crisis of Character

People are starting to see the wages of the culture we wrought the last few decades.  Peggy Noonan in the WSJ today:

"People in politics talk about the right track/wrong track numbers as an indicator of public mood. This week Gallup had a poll showing only 24% of Americans feel we're on the right track as a nation. That's a historic low. Political professionals tend, understandably, to think it's all about the economy—unemployment, foreclosures, we're going in the wrong direction. I've long thought that public dissatisfaction is about more than the economy, that it's also about our culture, or rather the flat, brute, highly sexualized thing we call our culture."
