SF Wkend 4: Our Room & View

We stayed at the Pillar Point Inn next to the Oceano Hotel and Spa.  The Oceano had recently taken over the Inn, which used to be a B&B.

      

SF Wkend 3: Stanford

I had always heard Stanford was quite beautiful, and boy did it not disappoint.  Never knew that the Church on the main quad was as ornate and classical European.  The Stanford family really must have sunk their fortune into the place.

SF Wkend 2: Palo Alto Ace Hardware

We flew to San Jose because I had always wanted to see the campus of Stanford University.  We had to rent a car and drive anyway, and I figured it would be easier to get in and out of SJC than SFO.  We had a great lunch at a little cafe in Palo Alto, then saw this way cool old Ace Hardware store.  I had to stop for my dad.

They had the old style bin for nails, which I remember vividly from my youth.  Not too many hardwares sell nails by the pound this way anymore....

SF Wkend 1: Departure

This last weekend, one of my best friends, Rajiv, held his wedding reception in Half Moon Bay, CA.  He and his fiance, Jean, had married on Labor Day Wkend to get their immigration proceedings (he's out of status in the US, she needs Indian paperwork) going.  We left the girls at home, in the capable hands of Grandpa and AK, for a three-day trip alone.

                     

At Sky Harbor Airport.  They gave us a little hassle over the liquids in our carry-on.  Thankfully we weren't subjected to the invasive, unconstitutional searches in the body scan or grope-fest, but it was still quite a pain.

There is a tulle in my box

Out shopping, of course, what else do we stay at home moms do?

I came across this adorable dress and thought how awesome it would be to give my little girl. Yet again, at the fabric shop, which I am sure you have heard me call it the porn shop. I thought this black and white polkee dot corduroy would be perfect. I pulled out my patterns and waved my magic mom wand and poof! Marcelly, eventually Pheeny, had a new dress. Now of course if you actually looked at the inspiration dress you see mine and theirs are not quite the same thing. Which is awesome because I just wanted to add tulle my repertoire of fabrics. Seeing as my daughter is up on her fashion she specifically asked to have an outside zipper. I thought about adding pockets or some frillies to the front but that can always be done later if the model so desires. What do you think?
